Ansonia Ex-Mayor appointed to new post

"Jim Finnucan thinks he's right where he needs to be. More than two decades removed from being mayor, Finnucan is back at the helm of a major city agency. He's the newest executive director of the Ansonia Housing Authority"
CTPost Melvin Mason

Is this a good thing for Ansonia or is it more of the good old boys network?...

New School in Derby

Apparently the newspapers like to cover Derby more then the other towns.
Recently the discussion on whether or not the City of Derby should offer two questions for Ref. on a new school. The city will give the expensive plan, less expensive and no. Is offering options such as this a good thing in a city which has failed to provide it's student a new school bulding in more then 30 years?

Derby's Downtown

Recently there has been some squabbling over the progress of Downtown. Ironically the ones complaining are from the former administration. Democrats in the City of Derby are going to have a tough time making that argument. Is this a losing strategy for an attempted take back?

Derby Has the first official Mayoral Canidate

From the CT post

DERBY — First, he was in. Then, he was out. Now, it's official — Mel
Thompson is running for mayor. The political activist and registered Democrat
filed his candidacy form in City Hall on Tuesday. He also submitted forms
registering a political action committee — Friends of Mel Thompson — which lists
Al Zibluk, of Bethany, as treasurer. Thompson, 40, said he is running because of
a feeling that too many local political decisions are based on favors that have
resulted in appointments to boards, commissions and positions.

Does Mr Thompson have a chance of gaining the support of the Democrats in Derby?

Slowed Development in Derby

Who do you think should take responsibility for the slow progress in Downtown Derby. Obviously things have moved faster then in recent years, but are they fast enough.

On a side note, at what point does th Mayor use eminent domain?
